Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. Meet and greet by our Tour representative. Transfer to the hotel. Complete the check-in process. Relax and freshen up. Later, start with your city tour and walk the Cascade Complex. It is a giant stairway made of limestone, which housed one of the most interesting & vast contemporary art collections. Head to the building of the Opera house and North Avenue. Later, continue to the Republic Square in the heart of Yerevan. Then head to the Blue Mosque, dating back to the 18th century. Then visit Matenadaran, one of the world’s largest and oldest repositories of Armenian, Greek, and Persian manuscripts. Marvel at the illuminated pages of some of those manuscripts within their glass cases. Later, after completing your day, return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast at the hotel, start the tour and have a first stop near the Arch of Charents, from where the beautiful panoramic view of Ararat valley and Mount Ararat opens. After, continue to Geghard Monastery, dating back as far as the 4th century AD, which reached its glory in the 13th century. Geghard is one of the jewels of Armenian medieval architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The monastery of Geghard contains several churches and tombs, most of them cut into the solid rock, which illustrate the very peak of Armenian medieval craftsmanship. Later, head to Garni Temple, the true and unique masterpiece of Hellenistic architecture in Armenia. Garni is a pagan temple of the Sun God Mihra. It is one of the most ancient landmarks in Kotayk and the whole of Armenia, which has survived since the pagan period. The Fortress of Garni was also the summer residence of Armenian kings. We will drive towards the Amberd complex, comprised of a medieval fortress and a church located in a quiet area on the southern slopes of Mount Aragats. Amberd is at 2300 meters above sea level; this explains its name, which means ‘fortress in the clouds’. Next stop is Alphabet Alley, where you will learn about the Armenian language and can try to find your initials in stone-carved letters. In the evening, return to Yerevan. Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, visit Kecharis Monastery, founded in the XI century by Armenian Pahlavuni princes. The next stop will be at the Tsaghkadzor Ropeway to enjoy the view of mountainous Armenia. You can also take optional activities such as Zip line (optional*). Then drive to see Lake Sevan. It is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of the largest freshwater high-altitude lakes in the world. Sevan is called the pearl of Armenia. In the evening, return to Yerevan. After breakfast at the hotel, have a trip to Echmiadzin. First, you will visit the Holy Seat of Echmiadzin, the most important Armenian church, which was founded in 303 AD. Later, spend some quality time at the Machanents tourist center, where you will have a chance to learn more about Armenian history and culture. If desired, you have a master class of Doll making, lavash baking, and ceramics. After, head to Zvartnots to visit the ruins of one of the largest medieval temples in Armenia. Return to Yerevan. After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Gyumri - the second largest city in Armenia and one of the main cultural centers of the Republic. Being one of the most ancient settlements in Armenia, with a history of 3000 years, Gyumri is a significant location to visit and admire. Walking along the streets, you will pass by numerous old buildings and feel the spirit of 19th-century architecture. Later, head to Black Fortress. Enjoy your free day in Gyumri. In the evening, return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.
